AUTHOR AND EDUCATOR JONATHAN KOZOL TO SPEAK AT MONMOUTH U ON NOVEMBER 6
8th Annual Student Teach-In
The Monmouth University School of Social Work and Student Social Work Society are pleased to announce that esteemed author and educator, Jonathan Kozol, will give the keynote lecture titled "Fire in the Ashes: Confronting Injustice in School and Society" at this year's Student Teach-In Event. The lecture will be held on November 6 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., in Student Center, Anacon A and B. Following the lecture, Mr. Kozol will be available to sign copies of his new book Fire in the Ashes: Twenty-five Years Among the Poorest Children in America and his other books. The event is free and open to the public.
This is the 8th Annual Student Teach-In which is organized and run by the student Social Work Society in conjunction with the School of Social Work. The theme for this year's event is "Savage Inequalities: Confronting Injustice and Transforming Society." After the keynote lecture, from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m, there will be a variety of different presentations, lectures and artistic representations. Faculty, students and community members are welcome to submit proposals for consideration and/or attend the events. The keynote lecture is being sponsored by the School of Social Work, the Provosts Office, the Student Social Work Society, the Sin Fronteras Project, the Social Work Honors Society and the Department of Communication.
