Professor John Tiedemann, Assistant Dean in the School of Science, Technology and Engineering at Monmouth University, Was Appointed to the Wetlands Mitigation Council

Professor John Tiedemann, Assistant Dean in the School of Science, Technology and Engineering at Monmouth University, was appointed to the Wetlands Mitigation Council on December 11, 2003.
The Wetlands Mitigation Council was established under the Freshwater Wetlands Protection Act to finance wetlands restoration and preservation projects. The Council also governs New Jersey’s Wetland Mitigation Banks.
Mr. Tiedemann is a member of the Department of Biology at Monmouth University where he currently teaches courses in marine and environmental biology. The professor also teaches courses in marine science and environmental science at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, NJ.
Mr. Tiedemann holds a B.S. in Physics and Planetary Science from Upsala College and an M.S. in BioEnvironmental Oceanography from the Florida Institute of Technology. He has been professionally employed in the marine and environmental field since 1979. In that time he has conducted studies on a variety of coastal resource management issues and been involved with development of numerous watershed and conservation management plans in coastal New Jersey. Most recently, Tiedemann, along with colleagues, has been involved in bacterial source tracking studies designed to identify specific sources of bacterial contamination in several coastal watersheds in Monmouth County.
Mr. Tiedemann has also designed a variety of marine education programs and courses, and conducted numerous public education and outreach programs dealing with coastal resource management and the quality of life in New Jersey’s coastal zone.
Mr. Tiedemann is a life-long resident of New Jersey and has lived in Ocean County for over 30 years.
