Monmouth University's Spring 2013 Commencement will be held on Wednesday, May 22, at 1:30 p.m. at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ.
Is there a fee for Commencement?
There is no fee for Commencement.
How many guest tickets do graduates receive?
Graduates are limited to five tickets each. In fairness to all our graduates, additional tickets cannot be released. Guests with tickets will have access to the covered seating area. Guests without tickets will be directed to the lawn area. Weather permitting, the Arts Center will provide seating in this section.
Do children need tickets?
If a child is walking, a ticket is needed. Children are not permitted to sit on a lap in lieu of a ticket.
What time do graduates have to be at the Arts Center?
Graduates are asked to be at the student lineup by 12:30 p.m. Signs and staff will direct you to this area.
The student procession will begin approximately at 1:15 p.m; guests are asked to be seated by 1 p.m.
What time will the gates open at the Arts Center?
Gates to the Arts Center will open at 11 a.m. Expect heavy traffic leading into the PNC Arts Center on Commencement Day. Please leave ample time to enter the area, park, and report to the student lineup.
How do I get my tickets?
Announcements and tickets will be available at the Office of Student and Community Services located on the second floor of the Rebecca Stafford Student Center from Wednesday, April 24, through Tuesday, May 21. Please see the related section "Admission Tickets & Announcements Pickup Schedule" for detailed information.
How and when do I get my cap and gown?
Caps and gowns will be distributed on May 21 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Anacon hall, second floor of the Rebecca Stafford Student Center, or at the PNC Arts Center from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Commencement Day. Please see the related section "Cap and Gown Pickup Schedule" for detailed information.
When will I receive my diploma?
Diplomas will be mailed to your preferred mailing address by the Office of Registration and Records and should arrive within two weeks of Commencement. You will receive a commemorative scroll on stage the day of Commencement.
Will a photographer be at Commencement?
Yes. GradImages, a professional photography service, will be at Commencement to photograph students as they are recognized on stage. Your proof will be mailed to your home address.
Are there any accommodations for disabled guests?
A platform behind the graduate area has been reserved for guests in wheelchairs/walkers and one person to assist them. Please call the Office of Student and Community Services (732-571-3417) by Monday, May 13, to reserve seating in this area.
Is there a rehearsal for graduation?
There is no rehearsal for graduation. Detailed instructions will be available at the distribution area for cap and gowns and also noted on the Web site. Please see the related section "Student Instructions."
Is there a reception following Commencement?
The University will remain open until 6 p.m. on Commencement Day if you would like to return to campus for photographs. Fountains will be on, refreshments will be available, and President Gaffney would be delighted to meet with you and your family.
