Fall 2013
Commuter Housing Selection
In an effort to simplify the Commuter Housing Process for students who wish to reside on campus, we have created the following process. If you have any questions regarding this process, please contact the Office of Residential Life at 732-571-3465 or send e-mail to reslife@monmouth.edu.
- Commuter Housing Applications will be available online from March 1 – March 22, 2013. You can complete the online application available below.
- All applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. on March 22, 2013.
- The Office of Residential Life will generate a number for all commuter students who have submitted an application. Numbers will be created for each start term category. Commuter students will be placed in a designated building based on their start term. Rising sophomores (those who have less than 56 credits as of May 14, 2013) can be pulled into the on-campus process by a current resident student. Rising juniors and seniors (those with more than 56 credits as of May 14, 2013) will be contacted after general room selection in April.
- There will be a list created for each start term group (i.e. Seniors, Juniors, Sophomores). The Office of Residential Life reserves the right to prioritize any resident to receive a housing assignment before others on the waiting list due to extenuating circumstances (i.e. out-of-state residents and international students).
- Lottery numbers will be mailed to all commuter student applicants after April 1, 2013.
- Commuter students will be accommodated in University-sponsored housing based on their lottery number within their start term. Commuter students will be housed in designated halls based on their start term.
- If a commuter student is not placed, the Office of Residential Life will update students during the first 2 weeks of July as to their status.
- Commuter students will be given the option of remaining on the wait list at this time. Commuter students will be placed when/if space becomes available at the discretion of the Office of Residential Life. Please keep in mind that spaces may become available through the summer months and in early September.
The Office of Residential Life reserves the right to prioritize any commuter student to receive a housing assignment before others on the wait list due to extenuating circumstances.
