Letter From the Crisis Management Team
March 2003
Dear Monmouth University Parent:
I am writing to share some important information with you regarding your student’s experience here at the University. Given the uncertain nature of national and world events today, the University’s Crisis Management Team has been meeting on a regular basis. The Crisis Management Team monitors various situations that may take place and reviews our response plans developed for these circumstances. In addition, the team is responsible for the development of recommendations for additional security precautions and responses.
Because we recognize that communication is the key to ensuring an informed community, the Monmouth University Police Department has issued a memo requesting that everyone be mindful of unusual suspicious behavior and report such behavior to the University Police. Also included in their memo were tips for improving personal safety and security while on and off campus. Additional information for you and your student will be available on our Web site, www.monmouth.edu/security/, and will be updated as needed. We will also continue to utilize e-mail and voice mail for timely announcements.
While it is highly unlikely that Monmouth University would be a target for a terrorist attack, we want to make certain that we raise the consciousness of all of the members of the community. You can support the University’s efforts by encouraging your son or daughter to remain vigilant and inform the campus police of any suspicious activities.
Please be assured that we are monitoring this situation accordingly and are undertaking additional precautions to maintain a safe and secure environment.
Thank you for your support in this endeavor. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
Sincerely,
Mary Anne Nagy
Vice President for Student Services
Chair, Crisis Management Team
