
Join us during the 2012–2013 academic year on a journey to Africa. A number of events have been planned throughout the year to introduce you to the rich diversity of Africa. This large continent features 54 countries and is home to more than 700 million people. Each country is unique as is each region of Africa. Learn about all that Africa has to offer, and also learn how Monmouth University is involved in a number of African countries.
The Provost's Film Series
Organized by the Provost's Office and the Office of Global Initiatives, The Provost's Film Series for 2012–2013 will focus on "African Journeys: Haunting Legacies, Fragile Futures."

The films to be shown will capture the tribal and colonialist legacies—and the responses of various African nations to them—as well as the challenging economic, social, cultural, and ecological realities that these nations and communities face in the future.

We are pleased to welcome master storyteller Shirley Johnson to campus in February. Shirley, a storyteller of African-American and multicultural tales, will share her entertaining and inspiring Sankofa Stories, which feature tales from the African Diaspora.

Exhibits
Dr. Saliba Sarsar, associate vice president for global initiatives, will be curating an exhibit of African arts and crafts in the Wilson Hall Auditorium lobby starting in October. The exhibit will be mounted until the middle of May. To access the exhibit, enter Wilson Hall's main entrance and immediately go down the staircase.
