Students who demonstrate a high level of academic achievement and attend high schools in New Jersey's urban and economically distressed areas (as determined by the New Jersey Department of Education) will be considered. Awards of $930 are made to students who are nominated for consideration by their high schools based upon standard academic criteria. Recipients will be notified by the NJ Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (NJHESAA) in the fall of their senior year; awards are not need based and may be renewed for up to eight semesters of full-time enrollment based on continued eligibility and available funding. Students currently receiving this award do not need to reapply for award renewal. Due to current funding levels, no new awards are being made at this time.
