Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Grants
Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) grants are funded by the state of New Jersey and provide assistance to needy full-time undergraduates residing in New Jersey. This competitive program assists students from educationally disadvantaged backgrounds who demonstrate the potential for success at Monmouth University. Campus EOF programs include tutoring, counseling, academic monitoring and a pre-freshman summer program.
Eligibility Requirements
The EOF program is for educationally and economically disadvantaged students with exceptional financial need. In order to be considered for the EOF program, students must meet the following requirements:
- Meet Monmouth University's criteria for admission
- Ability to attend a subsidized five-week, residential summer program
- Be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen
- Be a permanent resident of NJ for at least 12 consecutive months immediately prior to enrollment
- Be registered with Selective Service (if required)
- Be enrolled on a full-time basis (12 or more credits per semester)
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress
- Not have a baccalaureate degree
- Not be in default on a federal or state student loan or owe a refund on a federal or state grant
- Not have received the maximum number of payments allowed
- Meet the state income guidelines listed below as well as Monmouth University's income guidelines
Students may be eligible for EOF, if they fall within the following guidelines:

Application Information
Complete and submit an application for admission to Monmouth University within established deadlines. Be sure to answer all questions under the "Educational Opportunity Fund" heading. Students who pass the initial screening by the Office of Undergraduate Admission will be forwarded to the EOF Office to schedule an interview. Students are admitted into the EOF program by staff in the EOF Office. To be considered for fall and spring awards, new students must complete the FAFSA by October 1 of the year for which they would like consideration. Spring only awards are on a funds-available basis and the FAFSA must be completed by March 1 of the year for which consideration is requested. Continuing students must complete their FAFSA by June 1 each year, meet satisfactory academic progress, maintain full-time status, and maintain eligibility for the NJ Tuition Aid Grant (TAG) to renew their awards.
Funding Information
EOF grants provided by the state range from $200 to $2,500 annually based on financial need, cost of attendance, and available funds. Funding is provided for the five-week, pre-freshman summer program. These costs include six credits of tuition, room in an on-campus residence hall, meals, books, orientation fee, and weekly stipend. During the academic year, Monmouth University provides grant funding to EOF students. Actual award amounts vary and are based on financial need, direct costs, and other scholarship and grant aid the student is receiving.
