Professional development experiences will focus on practical, science content-based opportunities that align with state science standards and enable teachers to incorporate age-appropriate exercises into their lesson plans and classroom teaching.

This two-day workshop was developed for middle and high school teachers to improve their knowledge of the use of DNA in forensic science. Teachers will prepare and conduct the following laboratories; DNA extraction, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR); gel electrophoresis; and determine DNA profiles. The activities are aligned to the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards.
