Post-Master's Certificate Programs in Nursing
Change is sweeping the healthcare field, creating new roles for nurses with increased responsibilities and opportunities. As nurses assume greater responsibility in the changing healthcare environment, those who have the most knowledge and skills will have the greatest opportunity for growth. The post-master’s program is designed for nurses who have already completed a master’s degree in nursing.
This course of study prepares the practitioner for the advanced nursing roles in one of four concentrations, Nurse Educator, Nurse Administrator, Family Nurse Practitioner, or Adult Nurse Practitioner. Students are placed in relevant settings based on the nursing role they have chosen to pursue. The program’s focus is to help students develop expertise in a defined body of knowledge arrived at through the study of research and practice in one of these selected areas.
The Marjorie K. Unterberg School of Nursing and Health Studies will offer a post-master's certificate in Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Advanced Practice Nursing starting in Fall 2006.
