School of Education Symposia
Spring 2011 Symposium

Lee Mun Wah (third from left) chats with audience participants following his keynote address.
Each year the School of Education holds two symposiums for area teachers, administrators, graduate students, and undergraduate students. In the fall the symposium’s theme is literacy, and in the spring subjects can include other content areas of education—such as math, social studies, world languages, or science—along with special education and teaching in inclusive classrooms. The day’s schedule includes an invited keynote speaker, well-known in a specific topic related to education, and a children’s book author. In addition, participants select a morning and an afternoon workshop in which education issues are discussed and innovative ideas for teaching are shared.
Professional development credits are awarded for participants who attend the symposiums.
