Superintendents' Academy

The School of Education at Monmouth University is pleased to present for the second year the Superintendents' Academy for superintendents and central office administrators.
The purpose of the Superintendents' Academy is to create a forum for dialogue and an exchange of ideas and experiences. Using the University as a catalyst, the academy will provide professional growth opportunities for superintendents and central office personnel. Additionally, it will create a network of support for colleagues and establish a collaborative relationship with the University and its resources.

Workshop Information
The Academy will hold four workshops a year with topics on timely issues directly related to matters of interest to educational administrators.

Superintendents’ Academy
September 28, 2011
On Wednesday, September 28, 2011, Monmouth University’s School of Education hosted its Superintendents’ Academy in the Multipurpose Activity Center Varsity Room. Sixty-eight superintendents from local area school districts attended the academy which had the theme of “Update on Teacher Effectiveness and Evaluation.” Dr. Lynn Romeo, Dean of Monmouth University’s School of Education, welcomed everyone to the event. Harvey Allen, Assistant Professor at Monmouth, facilitated discussion which led into the presentation portion. The presentation was done by Mr. Chris Emigholz, Director of Legal Affairs at the New Jersey Department of Education, and Dr. Laura Morana, Superintendent in the Red Bank Borough Public School District. Attendees had the opportunity to reflect on the session’s theme and topics during table talk at the end. Overall, the Superintendents’ Academy was a great success in bringing together the ideas and perspectives of multiple local superintendents.

November 2, 2011
On Wednesday, November 2, 2011, Monmouth University’s School of Education hosted its Superintendents Academy in the Multipurpose Activity Center Varsity Room. Seventy-one superintendents from local area school districts attended the event which had the theme of “Multiple Measures of Student Performance in All Subjects and Teacher Effectiveness.” This theme included two topics, growth models for tested areas and growth models for non-tested areas. Dr. Lynn Romeo, Dean of Monmouth University’s School of Education, welcomed everyone to the event, followed by a facilitated discussion by Harvey Allen, Assistant Professor at Monmouth. Lu Anne Meinders, Deputy Superintendent in the Jackson School District, presented for the academy attendees. Table talk was held at the end of the event to give an opportunity to ask questions and discuss the session’s topics. Overall, the Superintendents’ Academy was a great success in bringing together the ideas and perspectives of multiple local superintendents.
