Professor Varygiannes teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on the Methods of Teaching Elementary Mathematics. She also teaches the Foundations of Education course to both undergraduate and graduate students entering the School of Education. She has served as a mathematics consultant for a statewide initiative in developing performance assessments, a grant initiative under the direction of The New Jersey Performance Assessment Alliance. In support of this work of import, Dr. Varygiannes presents both at regional and national conferences for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics as well as locally throughout the state addressing the issue of bridging classroom instruction and statewide assessment.
During this past academic year Dr. Varygiannes developed a new M.Ed. program course offering titled “Assessment Practices: Now and When?” fostering a philosophic approach of looking at teaching and learning through the lenses of assessment.
