Professor Brennan is a Specialist Professor in the Educational Leadership and Special Education Department at Monmouth University. Prior to coming to Monmouth University, Professor Brennan was a College Administrator for 18 years and an adjunct instructor in the special education field. A former elementary, middle and high school teacher in regular education, as well as special education, Professor Brennan currently teaches courses in the undergraduate and graduate departments in the School of Education.
Professor Brennan’s focus in the classroom is on combining theory with practical application. To this end, she has further enhanced the PDS partnership with Long Branch Middle School (LBMS) to make the practicum experience more inclusive of all areas of the school. The teachers from the LBMS meet with the methods class in the building and present mini-lectures on topics related to their field of expertise, including Alternate Performance Assessment, Industrial Arts Technology, Curriculum Development in Special Education, First-Year Experience, and other pertinent topics.
Professor Brennan is a member of the Council for Exceptional Children, the Association for Curriculum Development, the Association for Educational Diagnosticians, Phi Gamma Mu, Kappa Delta Phi, New Jersey Education Association, and the National Catholic Education Association.
Professor Brennan’s interests include study in the fields of learning disabilities, assessment, and the visually handicapped. She serves as a Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant to the county educational services commission and individual districts.
Professor Brennan enjoys reading, spending time at the beach with her husband Jack and her five children and their five children.
