Field Placements
ABOUT FIELD PLACEMENTS
Field experience provides supervised opportunities for observing, teaching, and reflecting on the teacher’s role in the classroom and school settings.
Working under the direct supervision of a classroom teacher, the early field experience teacher candidate observes, assists in the classroom in basic instructional roles such as tutoring, mentoring and teaching lessons to individuals, pairs, and groups of students and instructs individual students and small groups as well as the entire class of students.
The School of Education at Monmouth University does not wait until or rely solely on the student teaching full semester experience to provide our teacher candidates with the opportunity to “learn from a pro.” From their acceptance into the program as sophomores, our students are given the opportunity to work with a number of experienced mentor teachers through clinical experience in diversified settings.
