Welcome NCATE Board of Examiners

Welcome to the School of Education where we seek to recruit bright and creative students to join us in our work to improve K-12 education in the state and region. The education professions including teaching, counseling, reading specialist, and educational leadership are among the most important in the world. Please use the links to the left to explore the wide array of high quality undergraduate and graduate programs we offer here at Monmouth. Monmouth education graduates currently serve as teachers, reading specialists, counselors, learning disabilities teacher consultants, school principals, and superintendents throughout New Jersey and the region.

As Dean of Education, it is my professional privilege to work with a highly qualified and dedicated staff committed to providing a learning environment to enable all students to be successful in all of our programs.

Our faculty have extensive experience in K-12 school settings and place a primary value on their role as teachers. I am consistently pleased to see their careful attention to planning instruction, depth of knowledge, and ability to engage students in critical thinking. To ensure they remain aware of the most recent developments in educational research, all faculty regularly engage in their own scholarship, present their work at professional meetings, and publish in professional journals, books, and other venues.

All School of Education certification programs include extensive supervised field experiences in local K-12 schools. The School’s Office of Certification, Field Placements, and School Partnerships helps coordinate and supervise all field placements. The office also helps students process all necessary paperwork to complete the state credentialing process. Our faculty and staff are dedicated to providing high-quality advising to enable students to complete their programs in a timely manner. All faculty serve as student advisors. In addition, the School has four professional staff to provide advising services year round. New student orientations are held at the start of each program, and the School holds student focus groups each semester to solicit feedback we might use to improve our programs.

Finally, our K-12 School Partnerships provide multiple opportunities for students to engage in tutoring and mentoring programs with children in our local schools and for faculty to collaborate with K-12 school personnel. We hope you will join us and participate in these important educational projects.
