The Washington Center Semester Internship Program
2006-2007: Monmouth University's Political Science and Sociology Department will place 12 undergraduate students in the Washington Center Semester Internship Program this year.
2005-2006: Our students secured prestigious career positions with the Department of Defense, a National Campaign Committee, Media Consulting Firms, and positions in the Intelligence Field after participating in the program last year.
Placements: Our students are also securing the most prestigious positions, including
- Back-to-back semester placements in the White House
- Several placements in the United States Congress
- Several placements in the Department of Defense
What is The Washington Center Semester Internship
Program?
The Washington Center has placed over 30,000 students in semester long internships since 1975. It has also affiliated with over 1,000 colleges and universities in providing internships in our nation's capital. The typical internship includes a 4 l/2 days-a-week professional work experience in an agency tailored to the student's interests. Students also enroll in an academic course and participate in the Washington Forum, a public policy lecture series. Students earn 15 credits for the semester long internship and 10 credits for the successful completion of the summer program.

PRE-LAW INTERNSHIPS AND CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
IN NEW JERSEY
Many of our students also intern and launch careers in various governmental offices, law firms, court administration offices, and more. The Department also places a lot of emphasis on the pre-law program and many of our students go on to law school and launch successful careers in law.
Placements: Our students have also interned and secured prestigious career positions in New Jersey, including:
- the New Jersey Superior Court and well-respected law firms
- the New Jersey Governor's Office, state and local political campaigns, international organizations, foreign service, and non-profit organizations
- the New Jersey legislature, municipal governments and city planning, and as lobbyists
