Bachelor of Arts in Sociology
Monmouth University has re-initiated the BA in Sociology program beginning Fall 2010.
Sociology is the study of social patterns, social forces, and the interrelations between individuals and the larger society. Students who study sociology learn theories, research methods, and substantive areas such as social change, inter-group relations, social class, gender, race, sexuality, families, sport, environment, rural and urban life, work and the economy, global issues, technology and communications, social movements, health and well-being, communities, and other contemporary issues.
Monmouth University students can take an array of courses in sociology, including Introduction to Sociology, Social Problems, Gender Studies, Global Sociology, and Family Sociology. We continually expand the courses we offer.
As a discipline devoted to the study of all types and levels of social organization, sociology complements many disciplines, including political science, social work, psychology, anthropology, economics, criminal justice, and business. Students can effectively double major in sociology and all these disciplines.
