Maryanne completed her Ph.D. in World History (with minors in Imperialism and Middle Eastern history and a research emphasis in South Asia) in the summer of 2008 at Washington State University. She received her B.A. in International Studies and Anthropology from the University of South Carolina in 2000 and her M.A. in Near Eastern Studies from the University of Arizona in 2002. She is currently working on her dissertation, "'Quasi-Barbarians' and 'Wandering Jews': The Balfour Declaration in Light of World Events." In addition to her own research interests Maryanne has taught Modern European History, Middle Eastern Peoples and Cultures, The Islamic Umma, Middle Eastern History, and World Civilizations. Dr. Rhett is Director of the Department's Master of Arts in History program.
