Professor Pearson is a specialist in the history of 19th century Europe, Soviet and Russian Foreign Policy, Comparative Revolutions, and Modern Eastern Europe. He is the author of Russian Officialdom in Crisis: Autocracy and Local Self-Government, 1861-1900 (Cambridge University Press) and numerous articles on Russian history.
