Department of Political Science

Political Science is "an ideal liberal arts major" in the 21st century. Through a study of government, law, public policy, international relations and area studies, our mission is to prepare students with knowledge and skills for a number of career possibilities and instill civic responsibility and leadership.
We are a dynamic student-centered department. Students get firsthand experience of discipline-based careers through internship programs. Our students take leadership in campus and community activities through clubs and honor societies.
Classes are taught by award winning faculty. Our alumni have successful careers in goverment, law, public sector, non-profit management, and international and non-governmental organizations.
The department holds a bi-annual Political Science and Sociology Student Convention at which students from New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey present their research through papers and posters.
