Department of Music and Theatre Arts

Within the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, students can pursue a number of academic degree programs, including those available in the Department of Music and Theatre Arts.
The music curriculum at Monmouth University is designed to provide specific knowledge and skills in music and a basic education in the liberal arts. Students entering the Department of Music and Theatre Arts are required to present evidence of proficiency in their major area of performance.
The Music Industry concentration is designed to prepare students for careers in the music business in areas of specialization, such as music publishing, marketing, talent acquisition, concert production, media relations, and merchandising.
The theatre arts program at Monmouth is a challenging major that guides students as they grow into accomplished performers, stage managers, designers, or technicians. The program covers both onstage and offstage, and offers the possibility of pursuing a double major in both theatre and music. Theatre students have opportunities to work on Actor's Equity productions for Shadow Lawn Stage, Monmouth's summer professional theatre company, and to earn points toward Equity membership.
