Within the School of Education, students can pursue a number of academic degree programs, including those available in the Department of Educational Leadership and Special Education (ELSE).

The mission of Monmouth University's Department of Educational Leadership and Special Education is to provide state-of-the-art undergraduate and graduate programs that effectively prepare individuals to serve as teachers, support specialists, and leaders in educational settings.

The department actively supports and reflects in practice the mission and themes articulated by the School of Education as a whole.

Toward this end, faculty, staff, and students within the department value diversity, pursue reflective inquiry, apply problem-solving strategies, and work to promote innovative, technologically appropriate, interdisciplinary educational practice and collaboration within the professional areas of special education, reading, educational counseling, supervision, and educational administration.
