About:

Edward S. Johnston is a new media artist, designer, and educator born and raised in Washington, DC. He has worked in a variety of contexts involving 3D computer animation, 3D visualization, and digital fabrication. Edward has exhibited and screened his creative work in venues throughout the United States and abroad, including the Video Art Festival Miden in Kalamata, Greece; the ArcheTime exhibition at the Tank Space for Performing and Visual Arts in New York City; The Matter of Time exhibition at the Philoctetes Center in New York City; the Technology Configured exhibition at the Ann Arbor Art Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan; and the Best of Artomatic exhibition at the Fraser Gallery in Bethesda, Maryland. Johnston has been awarded multiple funding opportunities including Jean Paul Slusser Fellowships, the Shapiro/Malik Award, and a research grant from the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies at the University of Michigan. In addition, Edward is the recipient of the 2009 Young Artist's Program Grant Award from the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities.
