Innovative and forward-looking, in the Department of Art and Design we embrace new technology and electronic art while respecting and maintaining traditional visual art skills.
We respond to contemporary needs within the visual communication field. We offer a competitive BFA degree in Graphic Design, which focuses on print, motion graphics, and Web design, and we have a new BFA in Graphic Design with a Concentration in Animation effective for the Fall 2009 semester, which adds a greater emphasis on excellence in animation.
Our BA in Art is designed for students who want a strong and expansive studio experience in the visual arts. We also offer a new BA in Art with a Concentration in Photography effective for the Fall 2009 semester. This concentration is a focused study in technical and creative skills of photographic seeing, production, and presentation. It prepares students for both fine art and applied/design (commercial) photographic practices.
We also offer the BA in Art and Education with Endorsement in Elementary Education, or with Endorsement in K-12 Education in Art. Students who follow this study receive a broad studio exposure while also working closely with the School of Education.
Art history is included in all of our majors and enriches the program experience.
Monmouth University's Department of Art and Design is committed to educating students who seek a strong and challenging studio experience within an intimate learning environment with faculty who maintain a professional presence in their chosen field of expertise.
