On Saturday, April 11, the CAC participated in a Sips & Serendipity painting workshop hosted by Main Avenue Galleria in Ocean Grove. 14 CAC members attended. The workshop consisted of painting a pre-sketched canvas while enjoying food and beverages. The painting was called "Luscious Landscape." This was CAC's first off-campus social event. Thank you to Main Avenue Galleria for hosting this wonderful event and to all who attended!
Visiting Writer Presentation: Andy Behrman
On Tuesday, March 31, 2015 in the beautiful Wilson Hall Auditorium on Monmouth's main campus, Andy Behrman, nationally known author of Electroboy: A Memoir of Mania presented to an audience of more than 100 students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community members. Andy discussed his book, his personal experiences with bipolar disorder, and advocated for mental health awareness. The talk was widely enjoyed by attendees and provided valuable insight into mental illness. Andy also held a book and t-shirt sale, and signed copies of his books. Additionally, the Department of Psychological Counseling, School of Education, Counseling and Psychological Services, the Mental Health Association of Monmouth County, and the National Alliance on Mental Illness had tables with literature and resources for attendees to take home. We are grateful to Andy for coming to campus, to our department's alumni group (Counseling Alumni Connection - CAC) for planning/facilitating this event, and to our co-sponsors and contributors for helping to make it possible. We look forward to more events like this in the future!
