MISSION STATEMENT
The Department of Counseling and Psychological Services at Monmouth University helps students achieve personal growth and greater understanding of self through confidential psychological counseling and mental health crisis intervention. Increased awareness of mental health issues campus-wide is achieved through extensive psychoeducational programming and collaboration with other campus departments.
SUPPORT SERVICES FOR
STUDENTS
Counseling and psychological support services are available to all Monmouth University students on a first-come, first-served basis. All services are free and confidential.
All services are free and confidential. The LCAC psychological counseling staff offers support to students faced with:
- Abuse
- Anger management
- Anxiety and panic
- Depression
- Eating disorders and body image issues
- Emotional crises
- Family problems
- General mental health concerns
- Grief, bereavement, and loss
- Identity issues
- Interpersonal conflicts
- Poor academic performance
- Prejudice, violence and hate crimes
- Rape and sexual assault
- Relationship issues
- Stress management
- Substance abuse
- Suicide and suicidal ideation
Additional services include:
- Crisis intervention
- 24-hour emergency hotlines and "Emergency services" cards
- Support from the Woman's Advocate
- Self-help literature
- Off-campus referrals
- Workshops, seminars, and support groups
CONFIDENTIALITY
Psychological counseling in the LCAC is strictly confidential. All students seeking counseling will be requested to read and sign an informed consent statement.
