Council on Undergraduate Research
The mission of the Council on Undergraduate Research is to support and promote high-quality undergraduate student-faculty collaborative research and scholarship in all settings of natural and social sciences and mathematics education at predominantly undergraduate institutions.
National Society of Experiential Education
The National Society for Experiential Education (NSEE) is a nonprofit membership association of educators, businesses, and community leaders. Founded in 1971, NSEE also serves as a national resource center for the development and improvement of experiential education programs nationwide.
Campus Compact is a national coalition of more than 1,100 college and university presidents—representing some 6 million students—who are committed to fulfilling the civic purposes of higher education. As the only national higher education association dedicated solely to campus-based civic engagement, Campus Compact promotes public and community service that develops students' citizenship skills, helps campuses forge effective community partnerships, and provides resources and training for faculty seeking to integrate civic and community-based learning into the curriculum.

Grant Support for Graduate and Undergraduate Students Who Perform Research

The following agencies provide resources targeted to undergraduate and graduate students involved in conducting specific research projects:
The National Science Foundation (NSF) has undergraduate and graduate research opportunities awarded annually to students in science, math, and engineering.
The National Academies Ford Foundation has predoctoral, dissertation, and postdoctoral fellowship programs for students focusing on behavioral and social sciences, humanities, math, physical and life sciences, computer sciences, and engineering.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency sponsors the National Network for Environmental Management Studies, which assists students with environmental research and training relating to their field of undergraduate or graduate study.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture makes grants available to land-grant university students.
The Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance provides access to a database of all federal programs available to state and local governments; federally recognized Indian tribal governments; territories and possessions of the United States; domestic public, quasi-public, and private profit and nonprofit organizations and institutions; specialized groups; and individuals.
National Institutes of Health supports students with research grants and individual fellowships in medical sciences.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provides a variety of grants in medical education and sciences.
The Smithsonian Institution provides internship opportunities, fellowships, and grants in art and design, history and culture, and science and technology.
Argonne National Laboratories focuses on granting support in the life sciences, math, computer science, and engineering.
National Sea Grant College Program offers opportunities to students who are studying atmosphere, climate, and oceans.
The Chemistry Internet Resource for Research by Undergraduate Students (CIRRUS) contains a variety of information and links pertinent to undergraduate research in chemistry. The summer research programs section has forms for adding and maintaining your specific information. The information is added to the CIRRUS relational database. Your information will be able to be modified and is username/password protected.
